Duplicating a Resource

Use the Duplicate Resource feature in order to create an independent copy of a resource under additional products.

Resources Refresher

You can find Resources under each product. These editable resource sections can contain content, such as support contacts, user tutorials, links to resource databases, video tutorials, and more.

Duplicate Resource vs. Multi-Product Assignment

When editing a Resource, you will see both the Duplicate Resource and Multi-Product Assignment buttons. While they both allow you to copy the Resource from one product to another, it's important to know how these work differently.

Duplicate and MPA Buttons-1

  • Duplicate Resource creates an independent, unlinked copy. You can create a copy, update information on the copy, and the original will remain unchanged.
  • Multi-Product Assignment creates a linked "copy." If you edit the copied Resource, it will also update the original Resource. This is a two-way link, so whether the original or the copied Resource is updated, it will update in both places. You can learn more about Multi-Product Assignment here.

How to Duplicate a Resource

Duplicate Resource Button

While adding or editing a Resource under a product,

  1. Click the Duplicate Resource button at the top right of the Resource editing page.
  2. Select the products to which you'd like to send an independent copy of the resource by checking the box beside the product. If needed, use the filters or search bar on the left to locate a specific product.
  3. Click the Duplicate Resource button at the top right of the screen.
  4. Confirm the duplication by clicking the Duplicate Resource button again. If you aren't sure if you want to perform this action, you can alternatively click Back to Select Products to return to the previous screen.
  5. Once you have duplicated the resource, it is recommended to click Go to Selected Product in order to make edits, as needed, and manage viewing permissions of that resource.

Why Duplicate a Resource?

Creating a Resource Template

When you first begin the process of adding Resources under your Products, you can create a set of Resources under a single product with the desired headers and formatting. This set of Resources can serve as a template for all of your products in that you can then duplicate each Resource section to all of your products.

Once the Resources headers and information have been copied to all of your other products, you can then edit each as needed for that specific product.

Duplicating Similarly Formatted Resources to Save Time

You may have a Resource that, while it may read differently under each product, will have the same formatting. For example, you may have a "Support Contacts" Resource that you'd like under all of your products, even though those contacts may vary by product.

You can duplicate a single "Support Contacts" Resource to numerous products. Then, under each product, you can adjust the contacts listed there, as needed.
